Iberia (IB)
Iberia was founded on 28.06.1927 and quickly became Spain’s flagship carrier, initially operating domestic routes before expanding to international destinations, especially in Latin America due to historical and cultural ties. After periods of state ownership and restructuring in the late 20th century, Iberia modernized its fleet and operations to stay competitive in the global aviation market.
In 2011, Iberia merged with British Airways to form the International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s largest airline groups. Today, Iberia is a major European carrier based in Madrid, known for its strong transatlantic network, particularly connecting Europe with Latin America, and for ongoing investments in fuel-efficient aircraft and improved passenger experience.
